Eleven illegal firearms were seized in a sting by South West District Police and officers from the Licensing Enforcement Division at a house in College Grove on Tuesday.

The firearms, including a high-powered rifle last registered in Sydney 17 years ago, were found during a search of a property following a tip-off from a member of the public.

Police also found more than 2000 rounds of ammunition.

It is also alleged a 43-year-old male occupant illegally sold a semi-automatic rifle and more than 500 rounds of ammunition.

The man was charged with 13 counts of possessing unlicensed firearms and ammunition, four counts of selling firearms or ammunition without a license, defacing the identification mark on a firearm and two counts of failing to ensure the safekeeping of firearms and ammunition.

He will appear in Bunbury Magistrate’s Court next month.
