Veteran spinner and crowd favourite Brad Hogg continues to be plagued by the hamstring injury which has kept him out of the Perth Scorchers side this season.

The Scorchers named an unchanged squad of 13 this morning as they shoot for a third straight Big Bash League victory over the Mike Hussey-led Sydney Thunder at the WACA Ground tomorrow night.

Hogg has been a key to the fortunes of the Perth franchise, who made consecutive finals before taking out the title last season.

But the evergreen 43-year-old remains unavailable, with coach Justin Langer hopeful of a return for their next fixture against Adelaide on January 6.

“His hammy is still not coming up, he’s still hobbling around in the field,” Langer said today.

“He’s probably not 90 per cent yet so hopefully give him a few more days.”

Langer insisted his side could still get better, despite producing a brilliant performance with the ball to dismiss the Sydney Sixers for just 99 on Monday night.

“One thing I love about coming to work every day is the spirit of these blokes,” he said.

“We keep winning from positions we shouldn’t, we keep fighting, we keep scrapping, I love that.

“Our batting was pretty ordinary (in Sydney).

“We have got so much more improvement.

“As long as we’ve got the spirit teams will come and know they’re going to be in for a fight every game, but our execution and skills can keep getting a lot better.”
