Wildcats share the spotlight

Patrick Majewski will have one up on Wildcats captain Damian Martin this Sunday.

The 2014 Telethon kid is playing in a half-time wheelchair basketball match at Perth Arena.

"I've played wheelchair basketball before and I was hopeless at it, so I'm sure they'll be better than me," Martin said.

He said the half-time match provided a rare opportunity for Patrick and his teammates to experience the spotlight.

"They'll get to experience what we do week in week out, which is play in front of 10,000 people," he said. "Hopefully we'll get to give them a high five on the way out and they'll get the applause they deserve."

Patrick said he was excited to play in front of a big crowd and to be sharing the experience with his siblings.

"I'm playing in the Little Dribblers team with my sister Izabel and brother Cameron," he said.

This season's half-time matches are part of Hawaiian Group's partnership with the Wildcats.

Hawaiian chief executive Russell Gibbs said the Wildcats partnership was part of the company's community program.

"Giving the kids a chance to experience playing on the same court as some of their basketball idols is something we're proud to make happen," he said.

"Hopefully this is an experience they will remember for years."

Hawaiian this year also helped Telethon kid Emily Prior go to the Katy Perry concert.
