Police have new information about Tasmanian man missing for 30 years

A person of interest has been identified in a 30-year-old missing person case, Tasmanian police have said.

Judah Zachariah Ruden Wolfe Mattathyahu was last seen alive on a property at Slopen Main on the Tasman Peninsula in November 1983.

He was living alone in a hut at the time, and has not accessed bank accounts or contacted family and friends since.

The 49-year-old was born in the United Kingdom and did not have family in Australia.

He also went by the name of Tony Zachary Harris while living in Tasmania.

Police said they had uncovered information about the case relating to a person of interest, but did not give further details.

They are appealing for more information ahead of an inquest to be held in Hobart in two weeks.
