Former cop facing teen sex charges

A former policeman will stand trial in February after he pleaded not guilty to having sex with a teenage girl.

Dean Tapper made a brief appearance in Perth Magistrate's Court this morning.

The 44-year-old pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexual penetration of a child under the age of 16.

Mr Tapper, who was a senior constable with the east metropolitan district, has been stood down from duty.

According to police, the alleged offences did not occur while he was on duty.

He will stand trial in the District Court on February 13.

Mr Tapper's bail was renewed.
