Endurance race riders injured

Two men are being airlifted to Perth after coming off their motorbikes in an endurance rally near Exmouth.

The riders, aged 40 and 59, were competing in the fifth stage of the Australasian Safari, considered one of the toughest motorsport events in the world.

Both riders were treated for multiple injuries at Exmouth Hospital before being flown to Perth via the Royal Flying Doctor Service this evening.

They are expected to land at Jandakot airport about 8pm.
