Jess hopes to turn heads

The future looks bright for Warnbro model Jess Brahim, as she prepares to audition for a top Perth modelling agency.

The 15-year-old Perth Modelling Academy graduate said she first set foot on a catwalk just two years ago but had already found her niche and hoped to model professionally after finishing school.

Jess said she had learnt a lot during a five-week course at the Perth Academy this year, and hoped her Aboriginal and Malaysian heritage would turn heads within the industry.

She said she looked forward to attending a casting call with Perth-based Chadwick Models next month.

"I really look up to Megan Gale, because she was from Kwinana, and Miranda Kerr because she started off small and worked hard towards her dream." Jess said.

"I've learnt so much since finishing the course in March and can't wait to audition for Chadwick's."

Perth Modelling Academy managing director Charlotte Octavia Munoz said she believed there was a huge gap in the market for Aboriginal models.

She said Jess was highly professional, despite her young age.

"There is a real opportunity there for Jess and other exotic-looking models, particularly as Australia continues to grow in diversity," Mrs Munoz said.

Mother Donna Brahim said the family had encouraged Jess to join the Metro Modelling Academy in Rockingham in 2012.
