Accused crossbow attacker denied bail

A man accused of attacking another with a crossbow and an axe has been denied bail after appearing in a NSW Central Coast court.

The 49-year-old didn't apply for bail when he fronted Gosford Local Court on Wednesday on charges including causing grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to murder.

Bail was formally denied by Magistrate Alan Railton.

It's alleged the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, shot a crossbow at a 56-year-old as he stood on his driveway at Somersby, northwest of Gosford, on Tuesday afternoon.

The target escaped injury after the bolt hit the laptop he was holding.

His alleged attacker then ran at him, striking him in the head with an axe.

The 49-year-old was later arrested.

He's due to appear before Gosford Local Court via audio visual link in September.
