Brisbane flights halted by car on runway

All flights in and out of Brisbane airport have been suspended because of a "security matter" that reportedly involved a woman driving her car onto a runway.

The airport tweeted at 11.36pm that all flights had been halted, and later advised passengers to check with their airlines for schedule changes.

Another Twitter update read: "If flying out tonight please be aware flights are currently being held due to a security matter. Passengers should expect delays."

The ABC has reported that a woman drove a car through a fence and onto a runway, preventing planes from landing.

The woman is reportedly being treated by paramedics and the vehicle has been removed from the tarmac.
