Tornado escape: 'Dude, where do we go?'

An amazing video has emerged of two oil workers frantically escaping from an unexpected tornado moving across a North Dakota trailer park.

Dan Yorgason, 44, was alerted via text that a storm was coming by neighbour Abram Schiff, only to very shortly discover a massive tornado moving directly into their housing complex.

"I checked outside to step under the rain — because I like summer rains — and I looked to the right to the east and didn't see anything.

"Then I looked to the west and saw it coming," Yorgason told New York Daily News.

"I knocked on (Schiff's) door and said 'uh... tornado.' He said 'what?' He was in his underwear.

"We took a few seconds to look at it and then we took off running," he said.

In the video, the pair can be heard laughing and swearing in disbelief over the speed and magnitude of the storm closing in above them, having had no time to collect any belongings before making a quick getaway in a truck.

"Dude, where do we go? We have nowhere to go," Schiff can be heard asking in the video.

The men decided to drive sideways along the side of the storm instead of trying to drive in front of it because "we figured there was no way to outrun a tornado", they said.

Both men were not injured in the ordeal.
