NPFL round-up

People shopping at Pilbara Woolworths stores from Karratha to Port Hedland are being encouraged to dress in the colours of their favourite North Pilbara Football League team and buy raffle tickets in support of the charity Legacy.

Karratha Woolworths assistant store manager Michelle McCutcheon, who is also part of a small team of Pilbara Woolworths employees who organise community fundraising events, said with Anzac Day this week, it seemed like the perfect time to help raise some money.

All McCutcheon had to do was find something to raffle off, so she approached local football clubs.

"I spoke to the president of one of the football clubs about this idea to raffle off a bunch of signed jumpers," she said. "And then I pitched it to the NPFL president."

With the clubs on board, McCutcheon managed to get each club to donate a signed league's side jumper, all of which she then framed.

A Karratha Kats, Karratha Falcons and Dampier Sharks jumper will be raffled off in Karratha Woolworths, Wickham Wolves at the Wickham Woolworths and the Port Hedland Rovers and South Hedland Swans jumpers will be raffled at the Port Hedland Woolworths in-store on April 24.

Raffle tickets will be sold for $5 each and can be placed in a box for whichever jumper entrants want to win.

April 25 will also see an Anzac Day clash between the Wolves and the Sharks at Windy Ridge oval in Dampier.
