Car loses wheel in police chase

Police have charged a man after he allegedly led officers on a pursuit that ended in North Dandalup overnight.

It is alleged that officers started chasing a Subaru Liberty sedan at Thomas and Kargotich roads in Oakford just after midnight.

"The vehicle was pursued along the Kwinana Freeway to Lakes Road in Mandurah," police said.

"As the car headed east towards North Dandalup, parts of the car were seen to come away, including the rear wheel.

"As the car was forced to stop, the two occupants ran from the car but were apprehended shortly after."

Two men were taken to Mandurah police station this morning.

It is alleged that the driver does not have a valid driver's licence.

The 23-year-old Maida Vale man has been charged with offences including failing to stop in circumstances of aggravation, and driving a motor vehicle at a speed equal to or exceeding 155km/h to escape pursuit.

He is due to appear in Mandurah Magistrate's Court on April 15.
