Man feared killed by shark in SA
The man was in the water with a group of people off Goldsmith Beach on the Yorke Peninsula just before midday.
It's understood others witnessed a shark take him and he never resurfaced.
There were frantic scenes as calls for help were made. Local SES and police from Adelaide responded.
Officers and emergency service crews are at the scene, but authorities hold little hope of finding him alive.
"They haven't found any trace of him at this stage, they're still looking but it's not looking very hopeful," a police spokesman said.
"They haven't located him yet so they believe it's a fatal shark attack."
Police have now warned other swimmers between Edithburgh and Port Moorowie on the Yorke Peninsula to leave the water.
