Perth film studio is closer

An ambitious plan to establish Perth's first film studio in the next three years is a step closer with key investors joining the project.

Local producer Stephen Van Mil said in October his company Impian Films had teamed with British firm The Extraordinary Group to build the studio by 2016 for an estimated $50 million.

Less than two months later, Mr Van Mil said there had been extremely strong interest from local and international people wanting to invest.

The facility, which is almost certain to be at Murdoch University, will include three sound stages, a production hub and a 260-room hotel.
