Bashed nurse 'can't remember attack'

Bashed nurse has no memory of brutal incident

A Melbourne woman suspected of being brutally attacked during an online dating encounter may have actually been injured in a serious fall.

Police initially feared Shey Webber had been viciously assaulted by someone she met through a dating website.

However, forensic experts say Ms Webber's injuries could have been caused by a fall inside her home.

Police will continue to investigate whether she was attacked despite the latest development.

"Police have consulted with forensic experts who believe that Ms Webber may have fallen within the house," Victoria Police said in a statement on Tuesday.

"The investigation remains ongoing, with detectives still attempting to determine whether Ms Webber was assaulted or whether it was a terrible accident."

News Ltd reports Ms Webber came out of a coma but cannot say what happened to her.

Police had trawled through hundreds of online dating profiles in a bid to find a possible attacker.

Ms Webber was found unconscious in her Warranwood home on November 6 when a courier peered through a window and noticed blood in the hallway.

She suffered severe injuries like those of a car crash victim and is still unable to communicate as she recovers in hospital.
