Family lights up for Christmas

The Sanders family know how to share Christmas cheer.

For almost 20 years Des and Rita Sanders have been lighting up their home as well as the faces of young children with their fundraising Christmas lights display in Busselton.

Their son Robert and his partner Denise Phillips have also switched on to the task in recent times and now their homes at 4 and 6 Black Swan Drive in Busselton are a mecca of Christmas light displays.

Last year the display raised more than $3000 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the organisation which will also benefit from the 2013 display.

Rita said the last donation helped the RFDS with the purchase of two vacuum mattresses, which offer fixed support for the body through a reinforced base plate.

People visiting the light display, where traditional Christmas carols are played, can make donations to the RFDS.

There will also be some RFDS merchandise on sale.

Mr Sanders said he took two weeks off work to create the displays, which would be switched on every night in December, weather permitting.
