Father thanks sons for saving his life

A father of six has described his sons as heroes for coming to his rescue during a near-fatal farm accident last week.

Simon Coster and his two boys ended up in intensive care after being overcome by fumes while cleaning a tank on their property south of Warragul.

The third generation dairy farmer said he is only alive because of his ‘fantastic’ sons.

“Wouldn't be here without them,” he said.

The 49-year-old has no memory of the terrifying incident, but says his saviours remember setting up the ladders.

A dramatic rescue followed, with Simon’s two sons trying to help before they too were overcome with fumes.

A total of 10 people, including farm workers, police officers and paramedics were overcome by the fermented corn syrup.

Simon was discharged from hospital on Monday, just in time to celebrate his wife's birthday.

The couple’s eldest son Ash will be out of hospital by tonight, while his younger brother Tim, 19, will be home by the end of the week.
