Ten announces 2014 line-up

Stars were out in force at Ten's 2014 program launch at Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art on Tuesday night, with the network using the opportunity to introduce the full cast of its revamped reality show So You Think You Can Dance Australia, including Perth-raised Carrie Bickmore and Jason Gilkison, who will host and judge respectively and US judge Paula Abdul.

They joined the likes of Bondi Vet's Dr Chris Brown, Bachelor Australia Tim Robards and the final two contenders for his love, WA-raised model Rochelle Emanuel-Smith and Sydney lawyer Anna Heinrich, as Network Ten chief executive Hamish McLennan addressed the crowd about his plans for next year ahead after another bumpy year in the ratings.

"The new line-up clearly demonstrates Ten's focus on event TV and people aged 25 to 54 - the biggest and most important age group in television - and represents our strongest start for many years," he said.

The end of the T20 Big Bash League and the opening of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia mark the start of the embattled network's new programming strategy and line-up.

The Sochi Games will see more than 360 hours of live content broadcast on Ten and One. In addition, Ten's digital platform tenplay will feature eight live streaming channels during the Games.

Then in July and August, Ten will be the official broadcaster of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Local drama series and multi-screen show Secrets & Lies will see Martin Henderson play Ben, a house painter who finds the body of a young boy.

2013 TV Week Gold Logie winner Asher Keddie will return as the beloved Dr Nina Proudman on what is believed to be the final season of Offspring but she will also appear in John Edwards' political drama Party Tricks alongside Puberty Blues' Rodger Corser.

Ten's first online-only series Lost With The Boys is a collection of short stories by real girls which will air on tenplay. It has been co-produced by Perth-raised Amanda Higgs (The Secret Life of Us, The Time of Our Lives).

Popular children's show Hi-5 makes a leap from Nine to Eleven with all new episodes starting next year, while there are plans afoot for a new family entertainment show on Ten at 6pm weekdays.

A slate of new overseas shows will premiere next year including 24: Live Another Day which picks up four years after beloved Kiefer Sutherland series 24 ended.

Perth-raised actress Adelaide Kane and her former Neighbours' co-star Caitlin Stasey appear in Reign, a period drama loosely based on the life of Mary Queen of Scots to air on Eleven, while Australia's own Rachael Taylor takes the lead role in thriller Crisis.

Oscar winner Halle Berry will grace the small screen in her first major television role as an astronaut in Stephen Spielberg produced sci-fi thriller Extant.

The Bachelor Australia will be back while The Biggest Loser: Challenge Australia will see the trainers take on the task of helping an entire town lose weight

Renowned chef, author and television presenter Kylie Kwong will join the new season of MasterChef Australia.
