TAFE teacher on child abuse charges

A Perth TAFE teacher has been charged as part of an international investigation into child abuse images.

The 62-year-old Perth Metropolitan TAFE teacher from Gooseberry Hill was charged with possessing child exploitation material after a search of the man’s home on Friday.

Police seized several laptops, hard drives, DVDs and CDs which allegedly held more than 1500 images and 167 videos of child exploitation material.

The investigation, named Operation Thunderer, is targeting online child abuse and is being held along with Toronto Police, Australian Federal Police, WA Police and other Australian police jurisdictions.

The man is due to appear in Midland Magistrate’s Court on December 10.
