Man allegedly impersonated cop, stole car
A 22-year-old Camillo man has been charged after he allegedly stole a man’s car while impersonating a police officer.
On October 18 about 9.30pm a 28-year-old man was driving his Mitsubishi Lancer on Warton Road Thornlie.
He allegedly noticed a white Holden Commodore with a blue flashing light on the dashboard behind him.
The victim pulled his Mitsubishi Lancer over and was approached by two men.
The pair reportedly said they were undercover police and that they were seizing the vehicle because he was hooning.
One of the men allegedly drove off in the Lancer the second man drove off in the Commodore, leaving the victim on the side of the road.
Later officers noticed the Holden Commodore in Huntingdale.
Police allegedly attempted to stop the car and then began a pursuit. The car was reportedly found abandoned in Thornlie.
Armadale Detectives executed a search warrant at a Huntingdale residence and arrested a 22-year-old man.
He has been charged with impersonating a public officer, stealing a motor vehicle, stealing, causing detriment by fraud, two counts of failing to stop, two counts of reckless driving, stealing a motor vehicle and driving reckless, no authority to drive and false plates.
He is due to appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court on October 25.
