Driver killed in head-on crash

A man died after his road train collided with a car south of Carnarvon last night.

The head-on crash happened near Wooramel Road House on the North West Coastal Highway, about 120km south of Carnarvon.

Police were alerted to the incident about 10.40pm.

St John Ambulance paramedics took the driver of the car to Carnarvon Hospital with minor injuries.

A police spokeswoman said Major Crash officers flew to the scene of the crash this morning.

The North West Coastal Highway is closed in both directions about 13km south of the roadhouse.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible because the highway will be closed for several hours.
