Lea reveals pain of losing Cory

Actress Lea Michele has opened up for the first time about losing her real-life and on-screen boyfriend Cory Monteith, explaining she feels like she has "lost two people".

Michele and Monteith were together as a couple for more than a year before his death in July from an accidental drug overdose, and their Glee characters Rachel and Finn had been on/off TV lovers since the show began.

"For me personally, I've lost two people - Cory and Finn," Michele told TV Week.

Michele was the driving force behind the Finn tribute episode of Glee, which will air in the US this morning (WA time), and she admits she felt the sombre show was needed.

"We had a beautiful memorial for Cory in the (fictional school) auditorium and some of the cast members sang and people spoke about him," she said. "It only felt right that we would do the same thing for Finn, so I felt it was very therapeutic."

Michele, who returned to the set a few weeks after Monteith's death, admits her TV work has been a big help to her as she mourns.

"Everyone is asking 'Is it hard to be back at work', but the truth is it's no harder at work than it is in life," she said.
