Maroon 5's Twitter clash with Lady Gaga
Adam Levine and Lady Gaga have clashed on Twitter.
The Maroon 5 singer posted cryptic tweets on the social networking site in which he blasted an anonymous star for "recycling old art" rather than producing original music.
"Ugh..recycling old art for a younger generation doesn't make you an artist. It makes you an art teacher ... I unabashedly love writing and performing pop music for both myself AND everyone around me. That's It. It doesn't need any extra sauce (sic)," Levine wrote.
While Levine didn't name anyone, Lady Gaga took offence to the tweets and sent out a message to her own followers seemingly in response to the Moves Like Jagger star.
She said: "Uh oh guys the art police is here."
Gaga might be justified in assuming she was the target of Levine's rage, given her new music video features a number of famous works of art.
He also isn't the only musician to accuse her of stealing from other works, with Madonna claiming Born This Way was a "redo" of her track Express Yourself.
She said: "I thought, this is a wonderful way to redo my song. I mean, I recognised the chord changes. I thought it was . . . interesting."
