Local talents present diverse designs
Tonight's Designer Capsule 2 at Perth Fashion Festival was nothing if not diverse, with four labels - Wild Horses, Betty Tran, Steph Audino and Bikini Atoll - all presenting completely different styles on the WA Museum runway.
Wild Horses showed directional ready-to-wear with lots of shiny metallics and geometric shapes, while Steph Audino showed a collection called Euphoria which focused on romantic eveningwear in shades of magenta, cobalt, black and white.
Betty Tran sent confident models down the runway with vibrantly coloured lace-work on dresses and blouses paired with lady-like pencil skirts, while Bikini Atoll produced eye-catching swimwear for women and a few buff-bodied men.
This show rounded out a busy day and evening of parades despite some unseasonably nasty spring weather.
So bad was the forecast for tonight that One Fell Swoop had to relocate its evening presentation from the Museum's pop-up Peroni Prive bar to the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, amidst concerns that the pop-up structure may not stand up to the wild and woolly elements.
That meant the runway show crowds had to cram into the foyer of the WA Museum to quaff their pre-show champagne and hors d'ouevres, but no one really seemed to mind.
Tomorrow, festivities at WA Museum will wrap up with Camilla and Marc's presentation of their new resort collection, and Perth Fashion Festival will officially wind down on Monday night with a closing night show featuring the resort collection of Sydney-based designer Kym Ellery.
