Queen obsessive dead three years near palace

A man who became obsessed with the Queen had been dead near Buckingham palace for "about three years" before he was found by authorities, an inquest has been told.

Robert James Moore's skeletal remains were found on the Small West Island in London's St James's Park, just over 90 metres away from the palace.

The American had sent hundreds of "strange and offensive" packages to the Queen, many of which had false threats of of dangerous contents, or contained obscene photographs.

Moore, who arrived in England from the US back in 2007, is believed to have suffered mental health issues, the Daily Mail reported.

It is yet to be determined exactly where he came from, and no next-of-kin have been found.

A skull and human bones belonging to Moore were found on the island on March 15 under a thick undergrowth by a tree surgeon, newspaper West End Extra reported.

The island, located in St James's Park, provided clear views towards Buckingham palace, and could only be accessed by boat or by wading the shallow waters.

Detective Sergeant Mike West, from Marylebone Police Station, told last week's hearing: "He had a fixation with the Queen and the Royal Family, which takes us back to the place where he was discovered.

"There would not be a better place to remain undiscovered within view of the Queen’s primary residence than the West Island."

Moore was discovered with Vodka bottles, a US passport and his clothes.

The coroner was unable to determine a cause of death.
