Seagull steals the show at the MCG

Seagulls are notorious for showing up at the worst time and in last night's Big Bash match between the Melbourne Stars and the Perth Scorchers, things were no different.

During the 16th over the now famous MCG seagull was struck by a ball at mid-wicket from a powerful Adam Voges pull-shot, knocking the wind out its sails as it lay still on the middle of the MCG.

A mic'd up Rob Quiney was on hand to delicately carry the injured bird off the field and place it outside the boundary rope. however that was not the end of it. The dazed bird spent a couple of minutes laying still before making a miracle recovery, strutting around the boundary, much to the delight of the vocal MCG crowd.

The plucky seagull must not have recognised Quiney as its rescuer, later swooping the Stars fielder, leaving the commentators in stitches along with the Twittesphere who had their share of fun with the comical encounter.
