Tennis champ Luke Saville returns to SA

Junior Wimbledon tennis champ, Luke Saville has returned home to Adelaide, after taking out the Wimbledon boys title just over a week ago.

Saville, originally from the Riverland town of Cobdogla, came home to a warm welcome from family, who met him at Adelaide airport after his 44-hour trip from London.

Luke's parents Judy and Mick Saville were there to greet him

"It was great to watch him on TV," Judy said, "We're really looking forward to having him home."

Wimbledon trophy in hand, 17-year-old Saville said that a much needed rest was next on the agenda.

"It’s the longest trip I’ve ever been away for, away from my family as well so thrilled to be home," he said.

"It's a good life travelling and playing tennis, but obviously haven't seen my family for ten weeks, so it's tough."

"Go to the pub, have a few schnitzels, a few home cooked meals, it’ll be nice."

But once he's rested up, he's got high ambitions as his 18th birthday in February edges closer, he's got a week in South Australia before heading back to Canberra for training.

"Have a three, four week training block heading up to the US Open Juniors, now I’m the number two junior in the world I think," he said.

"Finishing world number one this year would be great, and if I could win the US Open Juniors would be a great junior year."

"Then after the US Open Juniors, if I can play the whole Australian pro tour event, I think in November and December that would be great."
