Man dies in Gould Creek car crash

A man has died after his motorbike slammed into a car on One Tree Hill Road at Gould Creek this morning.

The accident happened just before 9 o'clock this morning, where a 54 year-old motorcyclist attempted to overtake a car towing a trailer and then collided into a Holden Commodore wagon traveling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the wagon was not injured.

Police are asking the driver of the car towing the trailer to contact them, as they left before Major Crash Investigators arrived.

" We ask that the occupants of a wide vehicle - possibly a utility or a small truck - towing a large enclosed trailer of some description that was in this area at the time and did stop and speak to witnesses at the scene, before driving on," Inspector Kym Hand said.

Inspector Hand said the 54 year-old man was the sixth motorcyclist death on South Australian roads this year.

"We want to make the point that it is especially important that they take the care that is required, particularly in the hills areas where the roads are a lot narrower and the opportunities to overtake are a lot fewer," he said.

The crash brings the state's road toll to 29, compared to 43 this time last year.
