'High profile athlete' dead after Gold Coast car crash
A Gold Coast driver, believed to be a high profile athlete, has died after crashing his car into a fence at Mermaid Waters.
A car crashed into a fence on Markeri Street near the Allendale Entrance of the Q Super Centre carpark about 7am.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the crash was the result of a medical incident believed to be a heart attack.
