Dramatic video as bottle shop attendant confronts two would-be thieves

Dramatic vision has emerged of a bottle shop attendant confronting two would-be robbers during a night shift in Central Queensland.

The CCTV footage taken from a Rockhampton store on Archer Street begins with two bandits reaching over the counter trying to get into the register when the attendant, Jacob Jordan, spots them and without a second thought sprints towards them.

One of the would-be thieves jumps back over the counter.

But the one who is still there becomes involved in a struggle with Mr Jordan.

It appears Mr Jordan forces him onto the counter, knocking over a stand of food, before the would-be thief is pulled to the ground.

He then leaps over a barrier and flees.

"I've always had that little bit of a thought in the back of my mind that I'm pretty good under pressure," Mr Jordan told 7News.

"Could've gone either way but I still would've done the same I thing I think."

Police say two men entered the business on Archer Street at about 9.10pm on August 9.

It is alleged one of the men produced a knife and demanded money from the till, but both fled on foot empty handed.

It is now reported that both of them may have been armed.

"Had they both came at me it might've been different story. But in the heat of the moment, I thought 'I've made my decision' and it was my safety I was worried about," Mr Jordan said.

The armed man is described as about 180cm tall and was wearing long track pants and a dark hoodie at the time.

It is thought he is aged in his late 20s to 30s and has a slim build.
