Late commuter is literally a daily running joke

Manchester workers revel in a case of schadenfreude watching as a man misses his tram every day for six months.

The passenger has become a source of entertainment for British earlybirds who have been watching the man bolt down the street and miss the tram at the Didsbury Metrolink stop, each morning.

Like clockwork, the man is 30 seconds too late every day.

So fascinated by the man's consistent tardiness, a local worker decided to film him hurtling down the street and share the video to Facebook.

“Haha this guy is amazing! Runs past at exactly 8:32am every day and misses the tram EVERY DAY! Just get up 60 seconds earlier man!” Tom Henstock wrote in a caption accompanying the video, which he posted on March 22.

The footage shows a balding man wearing a dark coat and suit, carrying a briefcase, pounding the pavement as he races against the clock.
One of those spying on the man can be hard yelling “go on, son”, before imitating panting sounds as the man runs past.

“I work in the gym across the road to the tram stop and every single morning at 8.32am I have seen him miss that tram,” Mr Henstock told the Manchester Evening News.

“I’ve seen it happen Monday to Friday for at least the last six months.

“I know the people I work with see him all the time as well. You could say it’s quite literally a running joke amongst me and the people I work with.”
