Toddler screams for help as lion cub mauls his neck in Russian park
A child has been mauled by a lion cub, after it darted towards the toddler in a Russian park.
Footage captured on Monday in the town of Vladimir, shows a zoo handler introducing the cub to a group of spectators.
At first the lion seemed calm and playful but seconds later the cub’s attention diverted to the child sitting nearby.
The cub raced to the young boy and mauled his neck.
The child can be heard screaming and it tears as the cub drags him towards the handler.
His mother can be heard panicking as her son cries for help.
Eventually the handler managers to pull the young lion off the toddler.
Fortunately, the child’s coat and scarf protected him from any serious injuries.
Witnesses told Life News the cub had visited the park before without incident.
The zoo was immediately closed after the attack.
