Sydney man puts 'armed robber' in headlock, performs citizen's arrest
A brave western Sydney man has held an alleged armed robber in a headlock, refusing to let go until police arrived.
The citizen's arrest was caught on camera early Saturday morning from the back seat of the Emerton resident's car, which he said the thief was attempting to steal.
The dramatic scene took place within a townhouse complex, where residents woke to the sound of crashing cars in their driveway.
The man allegedly drove one resident's car in to two other cars at the complex.
"He must've walking in my house and got my keys," the man performing the arrest says.
"I never did that, bro!" The accused can be heard yelling.
He begs to be released from the headlock, but the resident refuses to let him go until police arrive.
"I'm not letting you go, mate. I'm not letting you go, okay?"
Police allege the man held up a petrol station in Emerton about 5:30am.
The 29-year-old fled with mobile phone sim cards and food items.
The man then made his way to Bunting Street where police believe he was trying to find a get-away vehicle.
He has been charged with several offences, including robbery while armed with an offensive weapon and aggravated break and enter.
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.
