Heavily pregnant woman forced to sleep on terminal floor

A heavily pregnant woman has spent the night sleeping on the floor at Brisbane’s domestic airport terminal after her Virgin Australia flight was cancelled last minute and accommodation was denied by the airline to the stranded passenger.

Meghan-Rachel Cochrane took to social media following the cancellation of her flight from Brisbane to Sydney after severe storms swept through the city forcing all flights to ground.

21-year-old Cochrane, who is 36-weeks pregnant, had been experiencing Braxton Hicks, a condition where labour pains are experienced, throughout the day.

Cochrane stated that her and fellow passengers were promised accommodation following the delay of their flights until five o’clock the next morning.

The Sydney woman claims she was forced to wait on the floor of Brisbane's domestic airport terminal for nine hours.

In her Facebook post Cochrane posted a picture of herself lying on the floor of the terminal with her significant pregnancy bump on full display at 1.30am.

The distressing image of Cochrane has since been shared nearly 3000.

"At first we were told by staff that we would be put up in a hotel for the night and transferred back for the next available flight at 5am," she wrote.

"An hour later the staff then came to tell us that management had stated that the weather wasn't their fault so accommodation would not be provided."
