WATCH: Man rescued after falling two metres off Wedding Cake Rock

Two men have been winched to safety, one taken to hospital, after one of the men fell down a rock face at Wedding Cake Rock in Royal National Park.

Just before 3.15pm (Sunday 7 November 2015), emergency services were called to the location after reports a man in his early 20s had fallen.

Police have been told his friend, a man also aged in his early 20s, attempted to assist him, before also being stranded on the rock face.

Officers attached to Sutherland Local Area Command, Ambulance Paramedics, and Fire & Rescue NSW, conducted an operation to assist the men from the location.

About 5.30pm, the pair were winched from the location.

The injured man was treated at the scene for head injuries, before being airlifted to St George Hospital, believed to be in a stable condition.

His friend was assessed at the scene; however did not require further treatment.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

EARLIER: A police spokesman told Yahoo7 they were called to the scene about 3.12pm.

Rescue crews took some time trying to work out how to rescue the man.

Paramedics were seen talking to the two males as they waited to be rescued.

Wedding Cake Rock has been closed to the public since a temporary fence was erected at the site in late May.

Authorities closed off access to the iconic cliff flowing an increase in the number of people taking photos of themselves doing dangerous stunts.
