Qld producers making fast food healthy

The idea of healthy vending machines is attracting worldwide attention.

Queensland consumers can now buy a complete, wholesome dish, at the push of a button.

Fresh food vending machines have been introduced at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and could soon be rolled out across the city.

CityPantry founder Mike Evans said the idea is to provide people with a healthy take away option.

“There's a trust factor, why would you trust food out of a big box?” Mr Evans told 7News.

“It's a vending machine, it’s usually got junk in it, so what we'd say here, we've had to challenge that there.”

Food options include breakfast, salads and yoghurts, which are refreshed up to two times a day.

Mr Evans said the idea is already attracting worldwide attention.
