Parachute pilot crashes in front of onlookers

A spectacular powered parachute crash in front of a crowd on spectators has been caught on camera in Queensland.

The pilot was unhurt, reports the ABC, when he crashed his parachute in front of a crowd of hundreds at the Kuttabul Hotel, north of Mackay, in the state’s north on Sunday afternoon.

The crowd had gather at the pub yesterday afternoon for an annual pig hunt, the Big Boar competition.

The video shows the pilot soaring above the crowd before the parachute clips a tree, collapses and sends the craft spiraling to the Earth.

Gasps are heard throughout the crowd as one onlooker is records saying: “Where’s my kids.”

The pilot was uninjured in the crash but a quad bike nearby was damaged by falling debris.

More than 465 people had registered for the Big Boar competition which ran from Friday to Sunday to raise money for schools in the area.
