Shots fired at Gold Coast property

A manhunt is underway on the Gold Coast after a gunman threatened to kill a man and then opened fire onto his property.

In the first incident around 7.45pm shots were fired near a residence at San Fernando Drive, Worongary. No one was in the home at the time of the incident as police had reportedly already taken the residents to safety.

Officers had locked down the neighbourhood after the threats were made, but left before the gunman actually turned up.

A second incident occurred around 10pm at Sarina Place, Helensvale, with shots fired into a vehicle parked outside a residence. The residence was then broken into and a red 4WD was stolen. No one was home at the time.

No one was injured in either incident.

The man abandoned the vehicle after allegedly calling Surfers Paradise Police station and threatening to "shoot it out" with officers.

Police spent the night looking for him. There were reported sightings at Arundel, but he got away.

Investigations into the two incidents, which are believed linked, are continuing.
