G20 Brisbane: World leaders share summit experience on Twitter

The G20 leaders have had a packed schedule over the weekend with sideline meetings and formalities in addition to the official Leaders' Summit program - but that hasn't meant they have been too busy to share their exploits on social media.

Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper was keen to get down to business, tweeting a picture of himself seated between Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff and Chinese president Xi Jinping this morning.

In a rare English tweet, Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe referenced an in-joke with Tony Abbott as he shared a photo of the two of them clasping hands.

British prime minister David Cameron squeezed media interviews in between other G20 commitments on Saturday evening.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has been very active on Twitter, posting photos with many of the G20 leaders, including this one with Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and United States president Barack Obama from yesterday's informal barbecue.

Spanish prime minister Mariano Rajoy took to social media to share his G20 "family photos" with his 615,000 followers.

Meanwhile, Mr Modi was unstinting in his praise of his G20 host, Mr Abbott, and shared a photo of himself with fellow leaders of BRICS nations: the five major emerging national economies of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

But it's not all business talk in Brisbane for some world leaders. This morning, New Zealand prime minister John Key and French president Francois Hollande broke the ice with rugby union talk.
