Police recapture man who fled NSW court

A man who spent almost a week on the run after escaping a NSW courthouse has been recaptured.

The 30-year-old man ran from the Inverell court in the New England region on October 16 during his sentencing hearing for an earlier offence.

After six days on the run, police received a tip-off he was staying at a house in Inverell.

But the chase wasn't over yet.

When police turned up, he fled the home via a rear window, with officers having to chase him on foot before his recapture.

Perhaps tempting fate, police say the man will be served with a future court attendance notice for escaping lawful custody.
