Duntroon cadet accused of rape to face trial in Canberra

A cadet from the Royal Military College Duntroon in Canberra has been committed to stand trial over an alleged rape on Anzac Day this year.

Jonathan David Hibbert, 25, will face trial in the ACT Supreme Court after being charged with rape and assault over an incident which is alleged to have happened at an army training base on April 25.

The offences are alleged to have been against a fellow cadet.

The Defence Force referred the matter to the Australian Federal Police and mounted its own investigation.

Hibbert, who appeared briefly in the ACT Magistrates Court today, has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Hibbert is on bail and the matter will return to court later this month.
