Vic Libs promise $22m for at-risk youth
Two new accommodation centres to house 80 at-risk youth will be built if the Victorian coalition government is re-elected.
Premier Denis Napthine has promised $22.1 million to build the two 40-bed facilities, which will add to the two centres already built and one under construction.
Dr Napthine said the facilities were to help vulnerable, young people who were homeless or at risk of homelessness, and whose lives were in the balance.
He said each would provide 24-hour supported accommodation for people aged 16 to 24, with support for them to access education, training and employment services, while providing them with independent living skills.
"These youth foyers make a real difference to young people at risk because they provide secure, safe, affordable accommodation," he told reporters on Thursday.
"Most importantly, these youth foyers provide a direct link for these young people to education and training."
