Wine winners eligible for national show

Gold and silver medallists at this year's Canberra International Riesling Challenge (CIRC) will now qualify to compete at the National Wine Show.

Five hundred Rieslings from around the world are expected to be sampled at the 14th annual CIRC, to be held on October 18.

But as well as taking home the prestigious medals, winners at this year's challenge will also be granted automatic eligibility to enter the National Wine Show of Australia in November 2015 in the premium and single vineyard classes.

At this year's CIRC, 188 Australian wineries have entered 376 wines for assessment of quality by three international and four local judges.

District attorney Kevin Hayden called the investigation "one of the most complex, unusual and perplexing that this office has ever encountered".
