Woman struck by her own car in hit and run in Queanbeyan, NSW

An investigation is underway after a woman was seriously injured in a hit and run in Queanbeyan last night.

The 30-year-old woman suffered serious head injuries when she was struck by her own car and thrown onto the road about 5:00pm Saturday.

The driver fled from the scene but it is not yet clear whether the hit and run was deliberate.

Police said they are investigating who was driving the car at the time, which was registered to the victim.

"It may be the fact that they were known to each other," Queanbeyan Police Acting Inspector ScottTozer said.

The woman remains in Canberra Hospital.
