Ice-cream truck thief faces more charges

A man who allegedly stole an ice-cream truck has been charged in relation to other robberies.

It's alleged the 45-year-old stole the 10-tonne truck from Newcastle on August 11 before leading police on a long chase.

On Monday, police laid additional charges in relation to a burglary in Gorokan on the Central Coast between August 9 and 10, as well as an armed robbery at a service station in Charmhaven on August 10.

The man already faces numerous charges in relation to the alleged ice-cream truck theft, including armed robbery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of possessing a pistol while unlicensed.

The charges were formally added when the man appeared at Wyong Local Court on Monday.

The matter was adjourned until October 22.
