Man 'chokes to death on kangaroo meat' at Uluru
A man has died after choking on a piece of kangaroo meat during a luxury dinner at Uluru, according to witnesses.
The man was with a travelling companion at the Sounds of Silence dinner on Saturday night when he showed signs of distress.
Witnesses told the ABC the man choked on a piece of kangaroo meat that had been served.
Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia, which put on the dinner, said the man was offered medical help and doctors were on the scene, but were unable to revive him.
A spokeswoman for the local health centre at nearby Yulara said the man never made it to the facility.
The man's mother has been informed of the death.
The resort has offered its sympathies to the man's family and assistance to his travel companion.
On its website Voyages says the Sounds of Silence dinner offers a buffet that includes crocodile, kangaroo, barramundi and quandong.
