NSW woman charged over Coonamble murder

A woman has been charged over last week's fatal stabbing of an elderly man at his northwestern NSW home.

Reginald Mumford, 79, was stabbed in the chest in Coonamble on Thursday morning and was taken to Coonamble Base Hospital, where he died shortly after.

Detectives charged a 31-year-old woman on Tuesday with Mr Mumford's murder.

The victim and the accused were not related but it is believed the woman was staying at Mr Mumford's home.

The woman has been refused bail and is scheduled to appear before Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday.
