Teenager jumps from moving train - and survives

A teenage prankster is lucky to be alive after jumping from a moving train in Melbourne's north-west.

The young man was caught on CCTV video hurling himself out of the doors of a moving train before being thrown almost 30 metres along the platform at Watergardens station.

Incredibly, the teenager survived.

The stunt, believed to have been filmed and uploaded to a video sharing website yesterday, has been slammed as ‘incredibly stupid’.

The 17-year-old has been expelled from his school after posting the video on his Facebook account.

He is also facing serious charges as police investigate the incident.

“The train was travelling at 40km/h, that impact could have been fatal,” Inspector Karl Curran said.

It is particularly concerning for authorities because it is the second time in just four days a person has leapt from a moving train onto a station platform.
