Phone customers calling out for help

More Telstra customers are calling out for help after being disconnected from their phone lines for weeks.

Last night 7News reported on dozens of Richmond residents left outraged after losing their phone connection for days.

More affected customers have now come forward.

Salisbury North woman Elizabeth Brennan lives without vocal chords and has been without a phone for 13 days.

“I’m just so terribly frightened that something will happen and I can’t get to somebody,” she told 7News.

She and her family say they have contacted Telstra nine times over the past fortnight pleading for the problem to be fixed.

“I think it is absolutely disgraceful because I told them I had a medical problem,” Ms Brennan said.

Telstra technicians visited the site on Saturday, but couldn’t restore services.

They are expected to try again in the coming days.

“It’s just not good enough, they just treat you like nothing, they just don’t bother.”

Ms Brennan is not the only one with problems.

Thomas Blencowe has been without phone and his Adam Internet since last Tuesday.

“You’ve got to beg and scream and virtually make noise – they don’t seem to care,” he said.

About 40 Richmond residents have been off the grid since the weekend after damage caused by wild weather.

Telstra said it is still trying to fix the problem and hopes for all services in that area to be back online tomorrow.
