Police arrest man who fired arrow at sleeping homeless man

The bikeway archer who allegedly fired an arrow into a homeless man sleeping along a Brisbane city bikeway was arrested by police tonight.

The 36-year-old man was charged with the attempted murder of the 51-year-old victim who was asleep beside the Bicentiennial bikeway on Sunday night when he was allegedly shot in the back by a passing cyclist.

The victim underwent surgery after walking to a nearby convenience store to get help. He is in a stable condition and has been offered housing by the State Government.

Brisbane city detectives raided the man's home and allegedly seized several items.

He will appear in the Brisbane Magistrate's Court tomorrow morning.
